Half Marathon Runners
On August 23, 2015, thousands of runners will join together to show off their running skills while supporting an important cause. The Giant Race is an annual San Francisco tradition now in its sixth year. Partnering with the Giants of Major League Baseball, this event helps raise money for Project Open Hand. You can register to run the race or become a volunteer to help out with the festivities.

Participants can choose from the Half Marathon, 10K, or 5K races that each offers something different along the way. The routes begin in the Presidio and then wind their way through the city streets and along the waterfront. It is an incredible way to experience the city as you run the course and win cheers from onlookers. Best of all, every race finishes on the field of AT&T Park, so each participant can enjoy a thrilling conclusion to their race. Everyone is a winner! On Friday August 21 and 22, the Giant Race Expo & Big Pick-Up event is where runners and volunteers can gather to learn about the weekend’s festivities and mingle with other participants. Taking place at AT&T Park, there will be live bands, food vendors, and plenty of merriment for the whole family. On August 22, the FedEx Kids Race & Family Relay will take place during the Pre-Race Expo.

This event is also a great cause, because all of the proceeds benefit Project Open Hand. Founded in 1985, this non-profit has been delivering meals made with love to seniors and critically ill patients to nourish their soul and health.
