Do you have the skill and the strength to swim and run in the shadow of Alcatraz? On August 16 contestants will jump into San Francisco Bay for one of the most challenging athletic events of the year. This unprecedented race combines swimming in the chilly waters of the bay with a thrilling run across one of the world’s most famous bridges. The 2015 Alcatraz Challenge Aquathlon & Swim is sure to be an epic event!

The action starts at the East Beach of Crissy Field in the Presidio where swimmers will gather early in the morning, before hitting the water at exactly 8 am for a 1.5-mile swim. They will paddle out towards Alcatraz and then back again to the where they started. But that’s not all, because following the heart-pounding swim; it’s off to races on a vigorous 7-mile run. You start in the beautiful Presidio along rugged dirt trails before making your way over the Golden Gate Bridge. Not only is this quite a workout, but also the views are breathtaking. And since this event is officially sanctioned by the USA Triathlon organization, you know it will welcome some of the best athletes from all over the globe.

Even if you aren’t participating, you can come and cheer on the athletes. Both days will offer a fun-filled atmosphere where you can cheer on the runners as they zip across the Bay with the skyline as a dramatic backdrop. Register now, because race day will be here before you know it.
