Home to San Francisco's Little Italy and the Beat movement, North Beach has long been one of the many cultural centers of the city. June 14th and 15th marks the 60th Annual North Beach Festival, one of the country's oldest outdoor urban celebrations. In addition to great food, drink, and arts and crafts, the traditional animal blessing takes place at the National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi both days in the afternoon.
