Surrounded by the ice cold, shark-infested waters of San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz Island was once the home of the most notorious prisoners alive. Serving as a federal prison from 1933 to 1963, and a military prison for that, Alcatraz housed infamous mobsters including Al "Scarface" Capone and George "Machine Gun" Kelly.
