Women Off to the Races in Fight Against Cancer

Women Off to the Races in Fight Against Cancer The Nike Women’s Marathon and Half Marathon returns to San Francisco for the 9th year, with organizers expecting record numbers. The race takes place on October 14th, 2012 and benefits The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in San Francisco (LLS). This SF marathon has become one of the biggest of its kind, having attracted over 120,000 runners while raising more than $118 million to fund cancer research and treatment since its inaugural event in 2004. Much of those proceeds have been raised by the LLS Team in Training (TNT) groups, a sports charity training program.

The course itself is unlike any other. The scenic route traverses Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate Park, the Great Highway, and many other famous sites. With breathtaking views, a mighty cause, and a lively crowd of supporters, runners will remain inspired throughout the day.

Team in Training has more than 2,300 coaches nationwide, many of which will be training participants in the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco.  TNT coaches help runners and walkers establish an effective diet and training regimen, while ensuring that they prevent injuries, remain motivated, and stay hydrated. Register now for TNT and sign up to run in the Nike Women’s Marathon or Half Marathon in SF. For discount accommodations, contact Hotel Griffon downtown. Marathon participants will save 20% on the second night of their stay.
